EAA – FAQ

Who are We?

As ambassadors of the University of Guelph, the Engineering Alumni Association is a group of diverse Engineering graduates who share pride in the both SoE and U of G. We are under the University of Guelph Alumni Association as a chapter specifically to represent engineering.

What do we Do?

EAA exists to create new opportunities to engage alumni, maintain a pulse on alumni activities in the community, collaborate with internal departments to forward the mission of the School and provide valuable input and expertise into changes. The EAA also works closely with the Engineering Society to engage students and help them in their transition into alumni.

Some annual events include but are not limited to:

· EAA Annual Curling Bonspiel

· EAA Annual General Meeting

· Engineering Alumni Reunion – Homecoming Weekend

· Engineering Alumni and Student Careers/Networking Night

· Summer BBQ Social

EAA also has sub-committees or representatives which individuals are assigned to. They focus on key areas of need and are based on preference and talent of their members:

· Web Content and Advisory Committee

· Alumni Outreach Committee (recruitment and promotions)

· Events and Logistics Committee

· Communications Committee

· Engsoc and External Student relations Representative

Where and When?

EAA meets every 4-6 weeks at Alumni House, University of Guelph. There is also an Ottawa Chapter of members who participate by webcam and teleconference to provide input.

Why?

As a member of the EAA Board you will have direct impact and involvement in forwarding the School of Engineering by expressing your opinions, working with administration and collaborating with internal/external groups.

Staying connected with your alma mater and your School is a definite asset to your career, social network, and a benefit to the School by building a culture of giving whether it be personal time, industry expertise or a personal gift. By getting involved and supporting the School’s initiatives, you assist in maintaining the value of an Engineering degree at U of G and bridge the gap between alumni, students, and administration.

How?

If you would like to become a member of the EAA Board, it’s as simple as attending a meeting and connecting, asking questions, and maintaining an active status with the association i.e. attending as many meetings as possible, reporting back on progress and providing feedback.

JOIN US! We enjoy having a good time, staying connected and giving back to the School of Engineering!
